Market Update – December 2013

Christmas parties have now been and gone (ours was a luxurious affair in the picturesque setting of the New Forest) and the leaves have deserted the trees, which means it must be time for our final market update of 2013.

December has seen a late flurry of activity here at Chilworth and Venture as everyone tries to tie up their recruitment exercises before the new year.  2014 itself is looking very positive – we are already consulting regarding two interim year end projects, and also regarding an acquisition and systems integration project, and the forecast for January is very positive, with market liquidity expected to increase as 2014 progresses.

Instructions in December included assisting a rapidly-growing pharmaceuticals business in setting up their commercial finance team, the placement of both interim and permanent managers at a blue chip vehicle leasing company and a the successful placement of a senior interim finance manager with a major defence business in the Thames Valley.  For details of all the roles we’re currently handling, check out the jobs pages of both the Chilworth Partnership website and the Venture Recruitment Partners website, or find us on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

Following the success of our business breakfast event in October – Building High Performance Teams – we will be celebrating the successful launch of Venture Recruitment Partners with a drinks and canapés reception in the New Year.  Guests have previously described our events as “very informative and… very entertaining”, “inspiring” and “captivating”, so email peter@chilworthpartnership.co.uk to avoid disappointment, and to book your place for Venture Recruitment Partners: The Launch Party.

Market Update – November 2013

Another month has passed, and we now appear to be staring down the barrel of the Christmas period, with scraping the car windscreen becoming a fairly regular morning ritual.  November, the month where the recruitment industry traditionally starts to slow down, has still been a fruitful period here at the Chilworth Partnership and Venture Recruitment Partners, with the market showing signs of continuing its recovery as we approach 2014 and showing signs of great improvement come the new year.

The market has remained positive in November with another 4 interim managers placed and 6 permanent roles filled across both businesses with completed instructions ranging from a small but rapidly-growing life sciences business in London to an International Financial Services business in the Thames Valley as well as numerous notable local successes.  For details of all the roles we’re currently handling, check out the jobs pages of both the Chilworth Partnership website and the Venture Recruitment Partners website, or find us on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

Market Update – October 2013

The nights are getting longer, the leaves are falling off the trees and the air temperature is dropping rapidly, which means it must be about time for another market update!  October has been an eventful month here at the Chilworth Partnership and Venture Recruitment Partners, not just because of the changeable weather (including an Atlantic storm), but also due to a highly-successful business breakfast event and several roles filled successfully.

On the job front, the market positivity that we saw in September has continued in October, with another three interim managers placed, three permanent roles filled, and we have also had the distinction of being exclusively retained to recruit three senior roles, including one in London.  For details of all the roles we’re currently handling, check out the jobs pages of both the Chilworth Partnership website and the Venture Recruitment Partners website, or find us on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

As previously mentioned, to mark both the third anniversary of Chilworth Partnership and the recent launch of Venture Recruitment Partners; we held our most successful business breakfast event to date, featuring one of the UK’s top business speakers, Jeff Grout.  The number of attendees was unprecedented – so high, in fact, that we had to decline several requests – but those lucky enough to attend were treated to a hearty full English breakfast and a speaker who was described afterwards as “a fantastic speaker”, “very informative and… very entertaining”, “inspiring” and “captivating” by guests.  Keep an eye on your emails for details of our next event, information for which will be being sent out in the near future.

Market Update – September 2013

September has seen lots of positive change here at the Chilworth Partnership.  This is the first market update to be written by Peter Ward who has taken over the Resourcing and Marketing role from David Hodges.  September has also seen the launch of our brand new sister company – Venture Recruitment Partners, headed up by old hand Ian Brown and expertly aided by the aforementioned Dave.  Despite these major changes to the company, along with much annual leave being used up by various team members, we have still been very successful in placing four new interim managers and four candidates in permanent roles in a variety of sectors over the past month.

Following a relatively quiet summer, September saw a marked increase in the number of roles we’ve been instructed on and we predict this trend will continue, with more and more companies trying to tie up loose ends, and individuals initiating their next step on the career ladder in time for the Christmas break, ready to start in the New Year.  Check out the jobs pages of both the Chilworth Partnership website, and the Venture Recruitment Partners website for a complete list of all the roles we’re currently advertising.

As mentioned in our last update, to mark both the third anniversary of Chilworth Partnership and the recent launch of Venture Recruitment Partners we are holding a business breakfast event on Tuesday 22nd October featuring one of the UK’s top business speakers, Jeff Grout.  The team are all looking forward to the event, as are all our attendees judging by the unprecedented number of people we’ve had applying to attend!  Unfortunately for those of you who haven’t applied for a place, we are now at capacity for “Building High Performance Teams” but if you’re dying for a chance to attend, email peter@chilworthpartnership.co.uk to request a place on our reserve list.

Market Update – August 2013

Although August is typically a quiet month in the recruitment world, Chilworth Partnership made a number of successful interim and permanent placements within the education, manufacturing, retail and financial services sectors.

Looking forward, we are excited to announce the forthcoming launch of Venture Recruitment Partners. Our new division, due to  be launched at the end of September will focus on qualified financial recruitment for the mid-market £35-60k salary range across the South. Client demand made the launch of the new business inevitable and it will be led by Managing Consultant Ian Brown with David Hodges stepping up from his position as Resourcing and Marketing Associate at Chilworth Partnership to become a Recruitment Consultant with Venture. We wish them both the very best in their new Venture which we are sure will be a success.

These impending promotions have created the need to appoint a new Resourcing and Marketing Associate. We are pleased to welcome Peter Ward, a recent graduate from the University of Southampton to this role. Peter’s main responsibilities will be to support both Venture and Chilworth Partnership in the delivery of high quality shortlists on retained assignments and for managing stakeholders involved in marketing initiatives and events.

To mark both the third anniversay of Chilworth Partnership and the recent launch of Venture Recruitment Partners we wil be holidng a business breakfast event on Tuesday 22nd October  featuring one of the UK’s top business speakers, Jeff Grout. See the Events page for more details.

Market Update – July 2013

Chilworth Partnership made a number of successful introductions in July across a variety of sectors including business services, financial services and manufacturing.

Due to business expansion and the imminent launch of a new division (watch this space for further details) we are delighted to announce the hire of a new researcher, who joins us in September.

Market Update – June 2013

Although this time of year typically marks the start of the seasonal slow-down in recruitment activity, June saw The Chilworth Partnership secure a number of notable placements. These include:

  • A European Commercial Finance Manager for a world-leading manufacturing company based in Fareham.
  • A Business Analyst for a global FMCG business based in North Hampshire
  • An Interim Financial Reporting Manager for a leading business services organisation based in Portsmouth

On the basis of another successful year of trading and a strong first quarter we are now looking to appoint a further graduate researcher. Responsibilities will include improving the success of the consulting team (through effective social networking, information management and project management) and increasing Chilworth Partnership’s market knowledge. We’d be pleased to hear from you if you have any recommendations.

Market Update – May 2013

Chilworth Partnership was delighted to hold a Business Breakfast event featuring guest speaker Dennis Turner, the former Chief Economist at the HSBC. The event was a huge success with Dennis being as irreverent, informative and witty as ever, providing us with a pragmatic and relatively optimistic outlook for the British economy.

Dennis’ positive outlook of an up-turn in the market reflected what we have been seeing over the last month. From the beginning of May there has been a growing confidence in the market from both our clients and candidates and this has resulted in Chilworth Partnership securing a number of successful appointments for the month.

These have included:

  • Senior Finance Business Partner for a financial services organisation based in Bournemouth
  • Chief Financial Officer for a marketing business in Andover
  • Interim Systems Specialist for a media business based in central Southampton

Our Autumn and Winter events program will be announced here very shortly.
