Head of Finance – CP2129


Our client is a customer-focused, award-winning subsidiary of a FTSE-listed group. Reporting to the Finance Director, this is a new role established to lead a team that leverages value through best in class balance sheet management, provisioning strategies and impairment management


Responsibilities include:


  • Management of Balance Sheet providing analysis, insight and forecasts of Receivables and Provisioning
  • Management and development of IFRS9 model/governance, monthly impairment analysis and translation of these results to the business in a clear, concise way to identify operational drivers for change working closely with Credit Risk and Pricing
  • Leading on funding optimisation and securitisation with Group Treasury and external counterparties
  • Finance lead on Debt Sale strategies and supporting transaction execution
  • Capital and regulatory reporting
  • Support alignment of IFRS9, Credit and Pricing
  • Core member of team leading finance and lending system integration
  • Collaborate with both internal and external audit to provide information where necessary and to manage the auditing process
  • Coaching the business and providing tools and strategies so that the customer journey and RoE can be improved
  • Adhere to FCA Senior Manager Conduct Rules
  • Deputise for FD and at Group level when required
  • Leading, mentoring and development of a professional and engaged team
  • Driving a culture of continuous change and improvement
  • Lead ad-hoc finance initiatives and project management
  • Input to, and bring challenge to commercial and strategic decisions and growth plans
  • Advising and supporting ExCo decisions
  • Maintain close and effective working relationships with the ExCo, broader management team and group functions
  • Ensure that overall governance and control procedures are adhered to

The Person Specification


  • Qualified with 10+ years PQE
  • IFRS, specifically IFRS9
  • Financial services experience e.g. Banking, lending, consumer finance
  • Excellent Excel, systems and analytics skills
  • Operates effectively within a governance and control environment of a PLC Group
  • Experience of working in a regulated environment, preferably FCA and/or PRA
  • Understanding of funding and securitisation
  • Debt Sale experience
  • Strong technical and analytical ability with very close attention to detail
  • Strong communications skills with ability to translate complexity into understandable actions for the business
  • Excellent command of English language, with the ability to write clear, concise reports
  • Ability to present financial information confidently and clearly
  • Excellent project management stakeholder management skills
  • A personable character, able to engage with and influence other areas of the business
  • Excellent leadership skills and part of senior leadership group
  • Progressive and positive attitude with ability to see opportunity for strategic and commercial change
