Market Update – March 2014

We’re now into the third month of 2014 and we seem to have just about weathered the storms that were battering the south coast since Christmas.  We’re even being treated to the odd burst of sunshine.

This month brought the very sad news that Dennis Turner, former Chief Economist of HSBC, has passed away.  Dennis, a speaker at one of Chilworth Partnership’s events, was known for his anecdotal style, irreverence, insider knowledge and wit all of which combined to leave the attendees of our event with a pragmatic and relatively optimistic outlook for the British economy.  Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

On a lighter note, this month we have noticed a dramatic upturn in instructions, especially in the IT and interim finance markets, having made sixinterim appointments in the month  whilst securing permanent offers  for seven happy accountants.  If you’re looking to secure your next opportunity in qualified accountancy or IT, please get in touch or for details of all the roles we’re currently handling, check out the jobs pages of both the Chilworth Partnership website and the Venture Recruitment Partners website, or find us on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+.

This is the first significant change we have seen in market conditions over the past few years, which has brought increased success for the Chilworth Partnership, along with our sister company Venture Recruitment Partners – in the past month we have been chosen as a main supplier to B&Q for all their qualified accountancy needs.  We have also expanded our Preferred Supplier status with several new high-profile businesses.  For information about how we can help your business fulfil your recruitment needs, visit
